Newly, I begin this serialization that spotlighted some persons.

I choose the persons who gave a large impact in society.

新しく,人物にスポットを当てた連載を始めます。

社会にインパクトを与えた人物を選びます。

I sometimes wonder at something about human being.

It is that there are person to reform and person to not reform.

私は時々、人に関して不思議に思うことがあります

それは改革する人としない人です。

There are person that accelerates reform of his circumference, and person that wants the maintenance of the status quo.

If the reform of a company stops, the competitiveness decreases and it leads to bankruptcy before long.

I think that the reform is necessary to make organization and society better.

However, in my experience of some companies, person to reform voluntarily was rare.

The fact is most of people unwillingly reform it on orders from their supervisors.

Certainly, the reform is a burden of him, and surely causes the friction with others.

It is not surprising that people would like to avoid the reform.

自ら周辺にも改革を進める人もいれば、現状維持を守り、変化を望まない人もいます。

企業では、改革が止まれば競争力は低下し、やがて倒産に至ります。

私は改革が組織や社会をより良くするには必要だと思います。

しかし企業に勤めていた経験では、やはり自主的に改革を行う人は希です。

多くは上司の命令で嫌々行っているのが実情です。

確かに、改革は本人に負担であり、他者と軋轢も生じます。

避けて通りたいと思うのは人情です。

Even if it was so

In company, unless the government will foot the bill, if we don't reform it, it will result badly for us.

In big organization, even if person scamps the work, the influence may be little for him.

As all history shows, much societies and nations suffered from chronic disease, and they declined like Athens that Plato wept about.

Besides, in the more large society (community, country, the world), it is more difficult for we to feel responsibility of the decline.

Furthermore, in the present age when globalization advances irresistibly, we are becoming like a piece of dead leaf floating in the ocean that more and more greatly undulates.

そうは言っても

企業では、親方日の丸でも無い限り、改革しなければその付けはいずれ我が身に降りかかります。

そうは言っても大きな組織では、一人が手を抜いても影響はわずかです。

歴史が示すように、多くの社会と国家は慢性病を患い、プラトンも嘆いたアテネと同様に衰退しました。

まして大きな社会（地域社会、国、世界）ともなれば、多くの人は衰退に対して責任を感じることは困難と思われます。

さらに、否応なしにグローバル化が進む現代では、私達は益々大きくうねる大海に浮かぶ一片の枯れ葉のようなものになりつつあります。

On the other hand

In this situation, but if seeing around the world, one person reformed the society and it had a chance to advance in the right direction.

There are people who confronted alone a declining and contesting society.

Some people had sounded an alarm bell in the society and had fought alone, but ended in smoke.

But his action would give hope and courage to subsequent people.

I introduce people that were in an abyss of despair, got over many opponents, and planted new seed of hope.

I will introduce the accomplishment of the person and a point of the reform.

From the next time, I introduce Mr. Mandela who played an active part in South Africa.

一方で

そうした中にあっても世界や歴史を見ると、個人が社会を改革し、良い方向に大きく進むことがあります。

社会や国家が腐敗し、いがみ合い、衰退していく中で、それに一人で立ち向かった人々がいます。

社会に警鐘を鳴らし、孤軍奮闘したが徒労に終わった人もいますが、その行動が後に続く人に希望と勇気を与えることになりました。

私は、絶望の淵に立ち、多くの反対を乗り越え、新しい希望の種を撒いた人々を紹介したいと思います。

その人の事跡と改革のポイントを紹介したいと思います。

次回から、南アフリカで活躍したマンデラ氏を取り上げます。
